killed chimaeron tonight! i was dps as a moonkin, my much-neglected offspec. our raid performed spectacularly – we oneshot everyone except atramedes (2shot) and chim (2shot) and broke every one of our guild’s previous records, despite the fact that we are the lower-tier team. even took a few cracks at nef. so that was pretty sweet.

on the other hand, my moonkin dps was abysmal – i was happy to pull 11k on magmaw, and that’s at ilvl 354. i had read the moonkin ej a few times and thought i knew stuff but was also sure i must be missing nuances. well, my raidleader (also resto/boom) schooled me afterwards. rotation tweak, two new glyphs  and a slight retalenting later and i was pulling 15k regularly in sfk. 22k when i multi-dotted some high-health mobs.

so here’s what i learned about how to moonkin that is not explained on ej:

1. force of nature, insect swarm, moonfire, wrath. go for lunar first, becauuuuse

2. first lunar: starfall. starfall during lunar is a goodly dps increase.

3. then starfire/starsurge to solar. rinse/repeat.

so that’s the simple and works in the starfall, which you should be casting pretty much on cooldown when you reach lunar

the other big thing was on refreshing dots.

4. if you are near the middle of your eclipse meter and your dots fall off, reapply.

5. if you are about to enter an eclipse (1 or two more casts), push the eclipse and then reapply dots.

why? because at the beginning of an eclipse, using mf or sf will proc nature’s grace, which is plus haste and thus helps you phase transition faster. moar eclipses!

6. if you have a few adds, know they will live more than 5 seconds ish, and know the tank can control them (questionable in pug heroics), dot each of them. tidy dps increase.

this concludes moonkin lessons for the night; sleep well, folks.

<SINFUL> has had some troubled times; guild leader and his wife have disappeared, burned out officers left, massive influx of recruits. i’ve not been the best guildie of late (hello school, hello boyfriend) probably making only 25% of raids. but i’m finally progressing a bit myself. i’m 7/12 now, thanks to a PuG halfus and guild nights.

magmaw (like a million times)

omnotron (twice)

maloriak (once)

atramedes (once, as balance. embarrasingly bad)

conclave (once; also embarassing as i kept leaving the platform when i wasn’t supposed to but how was i supposed to know that “everyone, move!” didn’t aply to me)

halfus (one shot him my first time, almost boringly easy)

v&t (three times; i do love these old queer dragons very much and our guild now does this fight almost seamlessly)

hit list:

Cho’Gall (tried him once on a progression night, but never got past 60…)

Nef (guild just got him on 10 man!)

al’akir (oh god he’s obnoxious)

chimaeron (oh god oh god = the healer chant)

dita von teese in russian drag. i love everything about this.

like an икона

zoom out:

this one blows me away

also this coat:

i want it so very much

what an absolute goddess. i want her/to be her so very much.

10 day trial. i chose Antonidas for a server purely because it reminded me of my middle name (antonia). night elf priest named klytemnestra – greek myth names are a default. was amazed by the beauty of wherever the heck night elves start (been so long since i rolled ally). she’s still level 6, which is where i left her, frustrated from dying so much, and promptly rolled 3 new toons. so very like me. my human warlock from that day, morgause got all the way to 23 before I quit for the first time!

Pretty ladies!

there they are, my pretty pretties. which is i think what i called butterflies when i was a babby.

So I think that that whole 20 day of WoW Bloggin Challenge, plus the whole idea of doing long posts, holds me back. As does theme. It’s my blog, goshdarnit! I do what I want. And What I Want is to diversify. And not write my 20 page paper. So look forward to more! In shorter bits!

My guild!

NEW GUILD! I joined two nights ago, and last night was the first raid night! It is <SINFUL>, and it’s one of the top guilds on the server (possibly the top 25-man?). Which is rather intimidating, as they’ve done everything but Cho’Gall, Nefarion, and Al’Akir, and I’m still at iLevel 348.6. I also didn’t really realize on joining that they are SRS BSNS about progression and raid every.single.night. Fortunately, they’ve got enough 85s that it’s okay if I miss a night here or there. Or everywhere, being that my schedule is rather unstable. Last night was Cho’Gall progression night, and we got him down to 55%, which was not too bad, considering the gear of some raidmembers (me, for instance). Dunno how often I’ll be around, but it’s a fun group doing exciting things for sure!

Pretty simple and dull, really. I read a lot of resto blogs, as well as pally blogs, moonkin blogs, general WoW blogs, blogs by healers I like, blogs with pictures of otters…and I have occasionally thought that I might have something to add. At the very least, I’d like to have a place to say it. So here is my saying-space.
